At 14, Yesenia Rodriguez came to the United States with her mother and siblings to meet their dad. They did not speak English, and the language barrier made the transition and schooling very difficult. Although it was difficult, her parents were determined to give their family a better life. Her family came to the US and it changed their lives. Rodriguez understands the challenges of being an immigrant in this country, which is why she wants to ensure that Pennsylvania is a welcoming place to all immigrants wishing to call it home. Rodriguez wants to work to bring this type of change to as many as possible. “We may not be able to change the whole world, but we can change it for that one child. For our community.” She wants a better life for all our children, for all of us. If elected, Rodriguez will represent all voices from Pennsylvania and work to help pave the way for those who will come next.
